"Close-Up" is an instalment of UFO: The Series. It marks a rare occasion when a female member of the S.H.A.D.O. MoonBase staff is shown without the purple wigs they all wore on duty.
The story in brief[]
One of the sections of the S.H.A.D.O., that devoted to microscopy, has been attempting to obtain more appropriations funding for its equipment. SHADO Lieutenant Gay Ellis participates in a demonstration the Organisation's microscopy section stages to bring its point across to SHADO Commander Edward Straker.
Behind the scenes[]
The purple wigs that female SHADO MoonBase personnel wore were part of Sylvia Anderson's "Century 21 Fashions," and they served no functional purpose.
